Unreality In One’s Self

Blackened Horde: How did the band get started?

Void: Greetings. First of all thank you for hosting me in your zine. The band was started in 2019 as a one man band.

Blackened Horde: What kind of music do you play?

Void: I play a form of atmospheric black metal which is the main genre of the band

with dark jazz and post rock influences. I create this project to experiment with

the genres i like without any boundaries.

Blackened Horde: How has the fan response been?

Void: So far I have receive a positive feedback and this is the motive that makes me continue

to do what i do and try to get better and better over time.

Blackened Horde: Where did the band name come from?

Void: The name come from a disorder called ”depersonalization”. Its a disorder that I encounter 3 years ago luckily for a short period of time due to my long term and intense anxiety.

Blackened Horde: Introduce the band members and what they do in the band.

Void: The only band member is me (Void).

Blackened Horde: Who writes the music? Lyrics?

Void: I write everything in this band. the music the lyrics and the instruments.

Blackened Horde: And where do the lyric ideas come from?

Void: The lyrics basically are based on nihilism, negative thoughts, addictions, futility

and the point of view of the dark side of life.

Blackened Horde: What is your view in Satanism and Occultism?

Void: Satanism is an ideology of freedom and independence as I learned it and explored it

I can not say that I am a Satanist, I am just an atheist who believes that the only god you need and the one you should believe in is yourself. Now about occultism. It is a dark art that if you not be careful you will get lost in it as beautiful and mysterious as it is.

Blackened Horde: How many albums/CD’s have you released?

Void: I have release 4 full length albums and 1 EP. The Latest Release was “The Illusion Of Mankind” which released in 23 of March 2021.

Blackened Horde: Tell me about some of the songs on the latest CD?

Void: Lets talk about ”Civilization Collapse”, ”The Illusion Of Mankind” and ”The Villain Of A Failing Society”all these songs are connected and have a common meaning and this is how society collapses, how a person who is absonant with current fashions and trends becomes an enemy of society. Because society simply has not looked further, also talks about the human illusion that someone is important by presenting a fake life but in reality knows that is nothing and it will return to nothing.

Blackened Horde: Do you have any side projects?

Void: Basically you can say Unreality In One’s Self is a side project. I have also another 2 member band but now I focus and write music only in this project.

Blackened Horde: Who are some of your musical influences?

Void: One of the main influences when I get into this music is of course Norwegian Black Metal (First Wave) but now bands like Mgla, Lifelover, Nocturnal Depression, Bohren & der club of gore (Dark Jazz Band) played an important role to my musical influences.

Blackened Horde: Which current bands?

Void: Not something specific I listen to a different bands and genres this period. I can go from Mgla to Ghost and from Ghost to Gorgoroth for example.

Blackened Horde: What is the band like when you play live?

Void: As a one man band I don’t play live. I never played live and probably never will because I think that I cannot handle the anxiety.

Blackened Horde: What do you think of the US Metal scene?

Void: US have a great black metal scene I have listen to a lot of good black metal bands over the years such as Leviathan, Xasthur, Ghost Bath, Kult ov Azazel and others.

Blackened Horde: What do you think of the Overseas scenes?

Void: I have came across of some bands and I remember like the music but I am not that familiar with this scene so I cant say much I have no opinion about it.

Blackened Horde: What are some of your new favorite black metal/death metal bands?

Void: There is not something new right now and I am not that much into Death Metal. I have listen and discovered some new good black metal bands this period but not something to be my favorite right now.

Blackened Horde: When do you guys plan on writing any new material?

Void: I have already started to work on my new album ”The Great Nothing” I have record 3 songs and soon I will release a promo track called ”Ουδέν Εξ Ουδενός”.
