Blackened Horde: How did the band get started?
Fabian: Back in 2011 Julian had this idea of founding a folk metal band. So he asked some friends and his brother if they were interested in joining the band and that’s the story how Tagarot was founded.
Blackened Horde: What kind of music do you play?
Fabian: Folk Metal.
Blackened Horde: How has the fan response been?
Fabian: We have a small fan base yet but nevertheless we have received great feedback’s from all over the world.
Blackened Horde: Where did the band name come from?
Fabian: “Tagarot” is Old High German and means dawn. When we were searching for a band name we soon decided to choose one in a really old language because we wanted a name that sounds totally different from most band names we usually know.
Blackened Horde: Introduce the band members and what they do in the band. Who writes the music?
Fabian: Our line up completely changed. At the moment we are just four members and we are still searching for at least two further musicians. Samuel Neuwirther is our man behind the drums, Fabian Rauter plays guitar, Sandra Hinterecker bass and Julian Brockmeier flutes, bagpipes, accordion, mandolin and other folk instruments. The music on “Veleda’s Prophecy” was written by Julian Brockmeier and Benjamin Steiner. From now on, Fabian and Julian are writing the music while Samuel is working on the drums the drums. Julian continues on writing the lyrics.
Lyrics? The lyrics of the EP “Veleda’s Propheys” are inspired by an old Germanic priest, Veleda, her fight for freedom and independence and her Germanic tribe. But the lyrics of our new stuff, on which we are working now, will be totally different.
Blackened Horde: How many albums/CD’s have you released?
Fabian: We released one EP so far, new material is in the making.
Blackened Horde: Do you have any side projects?
Fabian: There are many ideas for side projects but it’s hard to find the time for that ideas. Actually, Fabian Rauter has released an instrumental EP last October. It’s called “Against the Colossus” and can be found on bandcamp.
Blackened Horde: Who are some of your musical influences?
Fabian: The Bothy Band, Lúnasa, Caldh Nua, Eluveitie, Wintersun, Moonsorrow to name a few.
Blackened Horde: What is the band like when you play live?
Fabian: Sadly we haven’t played a gig until now because of missing musicians.
Blackened Horde: What are some of your favorite black metal/death metal bands?
Fabian: I (Fabian) can only speak for myself here and am personally leaning towards Melodic/Symphonic Death Metal or Pagan, Folk Metal etc. So, bands like Enthring, Whispered, Kalmah, Moonsorrow, Falkenbach, Wintersun and Heathen Foray, which is an Austrian band, is what I enjoy listening to.
Blackened Horde: When do you guys plan on writing any new material?
Fabian: Actually we have already written some new songs and we are really pleased with the result. Our aim is a full length album with 10 or 13 Songs but it will take a while until we can show you our new work, maybe one year.
Blackened Horde: What does the future hold for the band??
Fabian: As already mentioned, we are working on new material and we want to bring those songs, as well as our older material to the stage. However, we are still looking for a vocalist who enjoys this kind of music as much as we do.
