Serpenterium is a collective of wandering spirits located in the southwest of Puerto Rico. Founded on April 1996 by Arnaldo and Luis, the band has gone through a few line-up changes as well as a natural musican progression that has helped mold their sound to what it is today: a conglomerate of all things Metal with various seeping influences that come together to form a sound of their own.
In recent times, Serpenterium has found a new logo, designed by the great Christophe Szpajdel, creator of legendary logos for bands such as Emperor, Old Man’s Child, Enthroned, and more. The band has also worked on various recordings, both of older, never before relseased songs, and new material set for a full length release.
Even though the band had not played live for a few years until recently due to various personal factors, they have continued to make new music that shows how the band has evolved while still staying true to the essence of what they have always strived to accomplish.
*Serpenterium – Rehearsal Demo 2012
Tracks:
Coming of Chaos
Hic Est Pax
Deep Wounds
A New Dawn
These four songs are part of the new material Serpenterium has been working on for the next full length album. We decided to make a rough mix of these rehearsal recordings and release them in order to let everyone have a glimpse of what’s to come. Recording will start on this summer.
* We are also working on new recordings of some of Serpenterium’s first songs from back in the day when the band was originally called Malygnacy, as well as various songs that were never released or played live before. The recording will be title “Arcanus Lux Perpetua”
The band is trying to move forward in a different way, taking inspiration from our varied influences yet infusing it all with our own vision to create our own sound. It is the logical continuation of the band’s history; the next step in the evolution of the music we create.
Lyrically, these songs are a reflection of what we see every day in the world around us. The constant manipulation of the complacent masses; the way that peace is unwanted by those that can help achieve it; the suffering this brings to those who stand against them; and the willingness to rise and keep moving forward despite it all.
Serpenterium has never been a band that follows trends, always going our own way, doing what we want, when we want, and how we want it despite any adversity that may come our way. The band remains adamant about this philosophy to this day, even after more than 10 years since it’s inception, something which will be evident in the shape of things to come.
