Blackened Horde: How did the band get started? How did you meet and how long have you been together?

Prophecy: The band began (in it’s first born) in 1991 in Shreveport, LA. But is/was nothing like Prophecy today. I am the only original member from the era. I was the one who did all the booking, promoting etc. Anyways for about 1 ½ years we (Old Prophecy) played out in Shreveport, LA not really doing anything with it. Well all grew apart. (Music taste) I met Joe Dunlap, (“Boogie”), in Shreveport, LA. We began to reform/recreate Prophecy into what we are today. It took a good two years to relocate to Dallas, TX and find members to do when we were looking for. Since 1995 (Late November) we, “Prophecy”, have been together. All except, “Trevor Warner” our bassist. He joined in on bass around September of 96. He was the missing link to us.

Blackened Horde: How would you describe your music?

Prophecy: We like to play Death Grind Metal but with a melodic technical or just plain heavy feel. Music you can relate to as well as mosh to.

Blackened Horde: What are your biggest musical influences?

Prophecy: Napalm Death, Cannibal Corpse, Dying Fetus and Broken Hope.

Blackened Horde: Who if, if any do you consider the bands idols?

Prophecy: Suffocation, Dying Fetus, Cannibal Corpse, Deicide, all death grind.

Blackened Horde: What made you want to be in the band? And if you weren’t in the band what would you want to be doing now?

Prophecy: With James it’s a life dream and with Phil it’s a feeling of being a musician in an extremely underrated form of music that by just being involved is it’s own records. If we weren’t playing Phil would be opening a titty bar.

Blackened Horde: What are some of your favorite bands that are really popular today?

Prophecy: See answer number three.

Blackened Horde: How many demos/albums do you have? Tell me about them.

Prophecy: We have one EP called “It Shall Come To Pass” 5 songs. One promo CD of 2 songs which will be on 3 compilation CD’s as well as our own full length CD om April/May 97.

Blackened Horde: If you could play with any band who would it be and why?

Prophecy: Dying Fetus cause they are the shit.

Blackened Horde: Who writes the majority of the music?

Prophecy: The whole band equally comes up with the music and lyric ideas.

Blackened Horde: Who has been the favorite band you’ve played with? Why?

Prophecy: Malevolent Creation because of their brutal fucking music, very intense!

Blackened Horde: Where did you get the band name from?

Prophecy: The holy Bible was where I found the name or word “Prophecy”.

Blackened Horde: Describe what the band is like live?

Prophecy: We are the kind of band that tries to put the best of us to every insane brutal fucker out there. Pure energy felt, Adrenaline!

Blackened Horde: If you are gonna do any kind of video what would be in it?

Prophecy: We already have to “Production” video’s out, as of now. We are currently editing on a documentary due out at the end of April 97. As well as other live shows on video for sale too. We put the brutal shit in our videos. Crowd pitting brutalizing each other is always fucking insane.

Blackened Horde: Are there any tour plans made, if so tell me about them?

Prophecy: We are trying to do some touring this summer. Nothing concrete yet.

Blackened Horde: Where do you think the band will be in 20 years from now?

Prophecy: It’s hard to say where we will be in 20 years. Just hard to say for the band too. But hopefully retired, maybe!
