Summon: How did the band get started?
Stefan: We started jammin‘ in our old rehearsal room, pretty soon we had a bunch of song ideas and improved them to actual songs. And after the endless journey of looking for a good name we finally started Nekrodeus on the 1st of January 2013.
Summon: What kind of music do you play?
Stefan: We play pure fucking death metal, it’s heavy and raw!
Summon: How has the fan response been?
Stefan: We’ve had a great response so far, people seem to dig our stuff!
Summon: Where did the band name come from?
Stefan: It’s the result of weird alcohol experiments during our jam nights in the mountains.
Summon: Introduce the band members and what they do in the band.
Stefan: Flo is playing drums, Michi and Alex are playing guitar and Basti is raping his bass. Moe and me (Stefan) are both doing guttural vocals.
Summon: Who writes the music? Lyrics?
Stefan: The music is written by the instrumentalists, Alex and Basti show their ideas and try to perfect it with Michi and Flo. The lyrics are written by Moe and me.
Summon: And where do the lyric ideas come from?
Stefan: Different things I’d say, our inspiration comes from everywhere. We like to write about rituals, necrophilia, necrophilic rituals and many other things like love and stuff. Mostly we are inspired by books, mythology or poetry.
Summon: What is your view in Satanism and Occultism?
Stefan: As I mentioned before we like to write about rituals and/or occult themes, so these things are a good inspiration for our lyrics, but nothing more.
Summon: How many albums/CD’s have you released?
Stefan: We’ve released a demo record (demo 2013) and an EP (Putrid Scent of Grave Perversion) so far, another release is planned to be happening this year or early in 2014.
Summon: Tell me about some the songs on the latest CD?
Stefan: The first “real” song on the EP is “Lords of the Nekrothrone”, it has been supported by a vocal feature from our bro Kub who plays in Death Mentality. Our favorite track on the EP is the second one “Lenore”, it has a very dark and somber sound, the lyrics were inspired by the same-named ballad written by Gottfried August Bürger. People seem to love the fifth track called “Realms of the Funeral God”, it’s a song about dying with nice grooving riffs.
Summon: Do you have any side projects?
Stefan: No, currently not.
Summon: Who are some of your musical influences?
Stefan: The raw and driving kind of death metal, oriental and orchestral stuff. Actually we’re into pretty much all types of metal and music, I guess we’re also influenced by that somehow.
Summon: Which current bands?
Stefan: Bloodbath, Nile, Slayer, Pungent Stench, Cannibal Corpse, Obituary, Fleshgod Apocalypse, Belphegor, Behemoth and many more…
Summon: What is the band like when you play live?
Stefan: We’re ready to destroy, afterwards we are drunk as hell.
Summon: Have you guys ever played in another country?
Stefan: No but we’d love to do so Germany, Hungary or maybe somewhere near the ocean would be awesome!
Summon: How big of crowd shows up at shows usually?
Stefan: Sometimes more, sometimes less, but it has always been a good amount by now!
Summon: How is the crowd response when you play?
Stefan: It has been awesome so far, with the wicked guy who wanted us to play Equilibrium’s “Blut im Auge” leading the way.
Summon: What do you think of the US Black Metal/Death Metal scene?
Stefan: While surfing through the web, we stumbled over tons of good bands in both genres in the last few months, I’d guess that the scene is big and very creative. Although most of them are practicing, a more modern way of playing and writing we discovered some great old school bands too.
Summon: What do you think of the Overseas scenes?
Stefan: Well we’d like to discover them, we never played on or went to a show overseas, but it looks pretty promising on the web!
Summon: What are some of new favorite black metal/death metal bands?
Stefan: Our recent bad-ass research resulted in reptilian brain, macabre demise and thy light. we’re also looking forward to the new carcass record and we are very happy about the return of emperor and the mighty pungent stench!
Summon: When do you guys plan on writing any new material?
Stefan: We’re always writing on new material, we’re about to finish the songs for our next record, people can listen to three of them on our upcoming shows.
Summon: What does the future hold for the band??
Stefan: More shows, new records and a fucking great time with beer and death metal!
