Summon: How did the band get started?
Nightwing: In 2011 my old band Thrash/Death Metal band Intoxicating Suicide was split up, because of some disagreement with other members. I didn’t play any music about while a year. In this period, I was spelled under Black Metal music too much. I was wanting to play Black Metal. And the idea that forming a Black Metal band occurred in my mind. In the late 2012 we formed the Imprecation (Old name of Myotis Treble) with my previous band mate Burak as drummer. We started the works, but Burak left the band very early days. After I decided to continue as one man Black Metal band. In the early of 2013, I obligated change the name because of same named Imprecation was active. I changed the name as ”Myotis Treble”. Myotis Treble get started in this wise.
Summon: What kind of music do you play?
Nightwing: I preferred extreme form of Black Metal that is aggressive, speedy, hard and I can mirror the hate in my heart. Of course I don’t mention about Marduk or 1349 raw and war themed Norse-core style. But I didn’t want to play atmospheric, melodic etc. No I don’t have any problem about these types of Black Metal. I only want to play aggressive style.
Summon: How has the fan response been?
Nightwing: I can say that the foreign listeners and fans positive response generally. Especially foreign listeners like my music. In my country the Turkish metalheads are stupid and idiot generally. Not all of them, I have some friends in this scene of course. But there are a lot of idiots in Turkey. They don’t have any idea but they are extremely narcissistic people. You can not recommend anything because they don’t like anything. They are asshole. I don’t have a good relationship with Turkish metal circle. They don’t like me and I don’t like they too. I don’t care. I interest in my foreign listeners.
Summon: Where did the band name come from?
Nightwing: Myotis is a bat species in the biology. It called ”Lithunian bat” in the term. Bat is one of the symbol of occultism and it used by the witches on their black magic while the ancient medieval times. Treble means the high pitched voice and it came from raw sound of Black Metal. So, we can say that Myotis Treble means the ”squeak or scream of bat”.
Summon: Introduce the band members and what they do in the band.
Nightwing: Apart from me only one member played in this band like I say. (Apart from live members and guests) Burak played drums very early days. He was my previous band mate from Intoxicating Suicide. After his leaving I continue as one man Black Metal project. I played all guitars, basses, vocals and drum programming. Yeah, I think probably adding some keyboard partitions in the future so, I play keyboard and piano in my free times, because of increasing my keyboard techniques. Being a mufti-instrumentalist is a good thing for a musician.
Summon: Who writes the music? Lyrics?
Nightwing: Writing some guitar riffs and lyrics is not very hard to me usually. Until now, I wrote all lyrics and musics. Apart from one situation. My friend Nahilath (He is my friend in Turkish metal scene) wrote only one lyrics in the ”Myotis Treble EP” track 4 ”Suicide for Master Satan” in 2013. I had wrote his name credits of the Myotis Treble EP. It is only one situation that I don’t write lyrics. Burak didn’t contribute any music or lyrics.
Summon: And where do the lyric ideas come from?
Nightwing: Lyrics are generally about satanism, misanthropy, darkness, occultism, death, violence, anti-religion, blasphemy etc. I like to mention about dark side of the life.
Summon: What is your view in Satanism and Occultism?
Nightwing: Satanism is the rooted and ancient belief. Actually, it is the older than Abrahamic religions. I mention about all ancient belief such as Paganism, Shamanism etc. All they are older than shitty Abrahamic religions. Actually, all beliefs occurred since the very beginning of humanity. Already If you read the history or Socialist philosophy, you can understand that they occurred the first private proprietary (I am not Socialist or Communist but they are right in this topic) All religions have one purpose: Subduing the all masses! At least, nobody murdered for Paganism or nobody beheaded for Zeus. All shits doing the period of Abrahamic religions. Today, people are murdering for falsehood religions or suppress for Islam. Especially, today Islamic religion is a disgrace of humanity. My country has a big Muslim majority, so I can say that all Muslim pigs are so reactionary. I hate these motherfuckers! I believe these shits (especially Islam) will be cleaned over the earth far away future. Maybe we can not see, but it will be done many many centuries later. I am sure.
Summon: How many albums/CD’s have you released?
Nightwing:: I have released 2 demos, 1 EP and 1 full-length album. My first release ”Wolf at the Fullmoon” demo under the old name Imprecation in 2012. This demo isn’t exist not enough the market. After the name changed as Myotis Treble, I released first material called ”Myotis Treble EP” in 2013. It is my first real and professional release. After two years ”Blood and Thunder” demo released in 2015. I can say that It is my real springboard underground metal scene. Finally, I have released the first full-length album ”Revolution of Darkness” in September 2017. Apart from Revolution of Darkness, all they were pressed as CD format. But only Revolution of Darkness album released as digital.
Summon: Tell me about some the songs on the latest CD?
Nightwing: The songs are generally about misanthropy, death or satanism on my latest release Revolution of Darkness album. For example track 3 ”Black Clouds of Transilvania” song is about Vlad Tepes who was known with killing method by impale and tortures. He has fought with Ottoman Empire in history and Dracul myths began with him in the modern literature, as you know. I mention about him in this song. Also track 2 ”Rotten to the Gore” is about outbreak of zombie epidemic and death. Track 1 ”Beyond the Baphomet’s Horns” and track 4 ”Black Candles” are completely about satanism and anti-religion. Finally, Track 5, 6 and 7 are about misanthropy. Shortly the main theme of these songs is ”Population is too much, it must be cleaned”.
Summon: Do you have any side projects?
Nightwing: No I don’t have any side project now. Latest, I had a side project called ”Enemy of Humanity” that played Black Metal cover band in 2015-2016. We were playing Mayhem, Satanic Warmaster, Nargaroth cover songs and I was the only guitarist of this band. But we were split-up some natural causes, we didn’t have any release and we could not very active. To be honest, I listen a lot of Trance/Psy-Trance music nowadays. Maybe I will start to play this genre as my side project. Music has no boundaries. I understand better when I maturate.
Summon: Who are some of your musical influences?
Nightwing: Like the all young Black Metallers my first inspiration was Varg Vikernes. Really, he was the big reason to started to Myotis Treble. I affected by his musical style and life ideologies. Actually, a lot of 90’s Norwegian Black Metal bands were affected me such as Darkthrone, Mayhem, Immortal, Emperor, Gorgoroth, Satyricon etc. Of course I didn’t forget to Bathory. But my big inspiration was Varg Vikernes.
Summon: Which current bands?
Nightwing: Later, Nargaroth’s style touched me. Ash is a musician who I appreciate always. Also I can say that Satanic Warmaster, Judas Iscariot, Taake and some French Black Metal bands such as Mütiilation etc. They are all of my musical influences.
Summon: What is the band like when you play live?
Nightwing: I found some sessional live members, we worked and gave some concert in Blood and Thunder period 2015-2016. We played some Myotis Treble songs of course but especially we liked the play some Black Metal classical covers. For example Mayhem’s Freezing Moon was the one of our favorite cover songs, we liked play it really.
Summon: Have you guys ever played in another country?
Nightwing: No, we never played another country. We played in Istanbul, Ankara and Eskişehir in Turkey, but we could not voyage out to foreign country.
Summon: How big of crowd shows up at shows usually?
Nightwing: There aren’t many Black Metal fans in Turkey. So, we didn’t play in front of big crowds. But, the people that is minority were generally faithful and they were knowing have a good time. I couldn’t catch their headbang’s speed.
Summon: How is the crowd response when you play?
Nightwing: Like I say, they know having fun. We got some positive feedback because of they were generally drunked. Listeners disregard to some mistakes on live performance if they are drunk enough. I think it is the best way of live shows haha.
Summon: What do you think of the US Black Metal/Death Metal scene?
Nightwing: I am a big fan of Von. I recorded a Von cover Satanic Blood in the Blood and Thunder demo in 2015. They wrote the name of Myotis Treble on their tribute page of official web-site. I was glory. Also Judas Iscariot is my big musical influences. I was listening Krallice, I like Wolves in the Throne Room etc. Also there is a band called Gökböri which plays Thrash/Black Metal band. This band from USA but one member of this band is a Turk. He had a pure Black Metal band called Pagan in Turkey in 2000’s. After, he moved to USA and formed the Gökböri. I follow this guy. Finally, I know Florida Death Metal scene. Death was the special band for me just like all metalheads.
Summon: What do you think of the Overseas scenes?
Nightwing: I know overseas scene especially Latin America’s scene very active. A lot of good bands come out. Now the bands that occur my mind are Sarcofago and Sepultura are from Brazil but old. Thy Antichrist is the new generation that is from Colombia.
Summon: What are some of new favorite black metal/death metal bands?
Nightwing: Of course I can first say Mgla and Batushka. And Infernal War. The good things come from Poland in last years. Also I follow Black/Death Metal band Necrowretch from France. They gave a concert in Turkey about 4-5 months ago but I couldn’t go.
Summon: When do you guys plan on writing any new material?
Nightwing: Frankly, I want to rest for a while. I am very tired in last years, I released new materials, gave some concerts. But I will not be too late. I don’t know but I will back absolutely. At least I can say that don’t wait a new thing from me in 2018.
Summon: What does the future hold for the band?
Nightwing: I want to carry the name of Myotis Treble to better places. I know I should work hard in long term. Maybe I will do the some musical changes of my music. I try the increase my creativity. Also I sport, read book, play piano, listen to music in my free times. I don’t like to depend on stereotype not only about music it is about life. So Myotis Treble may will back with some musical changes a few years. Keep follow me.
