Moribundus Christus

Summon: How did the band get started?
Yaotizin: Moribundus Christus began as a side project in 2016. As a collaboration between
me (Yaotizin) and Misanthrope to create some Beastial black metal. We put out the “slay the prophet” demo track in 2016.
Misanthrope: In December 2015, I brought up an idea to play some really angry war metal. Yaotizin and I then put our heads together along with our experience playing and listening to different forms of raw black metal.  In 2016, the sonic war materialized!

Summon: What kind of music do you play?
Yaotizin: Beastial black metal.

Summon: How has the fan response been?
Yaotizin: So far its been good. We’ve sold over half our tapes and our you tube videos have views. Along with our release being featured on some international torrent sites.

Summon: Where did the band name come from?
Yaotizin: Moribundus Christus means “The death of the gods” or “death to gods”. It was a name I (Yaotizin) had for a project but never used until now.

Summon: Introduce the band members and what they do in the band.
Yaotizin: 6 string hell, demonic voices, low end assaults.
Misanthrope: Battery and artwork.

Summon: Who writes the music? Lyrics?
Yaotizin: I write the guitars/bass and lyrics.
Misanthrope: I programs the drums.

Summon: And where do the lyric ideas come from?
Yaotizin: General hatred for religions and mankind.

Summon: What is your view in Satanism and Occultism?
Yaotizin: We detest all religions. Individual beliefs and rituals are tolerated.
Misanthrope: Religion is a mechanism to control the populace.  They are bastardizations of individualized beliefs that are passed down through generations of the “social elite.”  The religions made standard by the most powerful world leaders are the ones that survived to this day, and they poison the world with their literal interpretations.  They try to keep us from thinking and believing for ourselves so they can continue their crusades and wars, which they profit from.  They throw logic, truth, and reason out of the window.  Look at Christianity and Islam, two of the main religions in this world, and the damage and ignorance they spread over the past 2,000 years.  We, the truly free thinkers and individualist believers, declare our own war on these bastards!

Summon: How many albums/CD’s have you released?
Yaotizin: To date we have released one cassette E.P. With Our Ancient Future records.
Which came out late 2016.

Summon: Tell me about some the songs on the latest CD?
Misanthrope: “Slay the Prophet” was written about the death of religious fundamentalists!
Yaotizin: All the songs contain anti religious anti human messages.

Summon: Do you have any side projects?
Misanthrope: I have my solo death/black/gothic metal project I, Misanthrope as well as absurdist project The Middle Finger Blues Extravaganza and deathrock/Misfits-Samhain-influenced project BloodSong.

Summon: Who are some of your musical influences?
Band: Acheron, Marduk, Beastial Warlust, Beherit, Axis of Advance, Blasphemy, Angelcorpse, morbid angel, incantation just to name a few.

Summon: Which current bands?
Band: We are influenced by the old guard of Black/death metal.

Summon: What is the band like when you play live?

Band: Currently Moribundus Christus does not perform live, at the moment.

Summon: What do you think of the US Black Metal/Death Metal scene?
Misanthrope: There are so many awesome death and black metal bands all over the world nowadays, and I love how the death and black metal scenes integrate.  I remember a time when no one gave a shit about US black metal since it was not “Norwegian,” but once people realized how good these bands were, the fact that they weren’t Norwegian no longer mattered.  There is darkness all over the world, and as black metal bands, we all have our own cultures and ways of bringing this darkness into our music.

Summon: What are some of new favorite black metal/death metal bands?
Yaotizin: Obsidian Shrine from Kentucky, Decieverion from Pennsylvania. Both play killer styles of black metal. Mortuus Eternus from Tennessee, Blackened death metal
Misanthrope: 1914 from Ukraine – those guys are fucking amazing!  Their songs are about the brutality of WWI – the beginning of mechanized warfare.

Summon: When do you guys plan on writing any new material?
Band: Currently we are in the process of writing a 12 song full length release. We will begin recording it in 2019, and look for the right label to partner with for the release.

Summon: What does the future hold for the band??
Band: A new album in 2019. Possible inclusion of a live drummer into the cult. More interviews and reviews. More writing and recording for another release besides the full length a decent label deal.
