Lyfthrasyr was founded as a black/death metal project back in 2002 by German songwriter Aggreash. Influenced by a wide variety of sounds, including Nordic black metal, modern death metal, electro, atmospheric movie soundtracks and some classical influences, with piano as one of the key elements, the songs are dark, cold and aggressive, but still melodic and rich in variety. Shortly after Aggreash had recorded his first demo “Beyond The Frontiers Of Mortality” the project took off explosively in the underground, where it found a lot of followers. Early 2004, the extensive search for competent and reliable musicians with the same musical goals ended with Mathar (drums) and Insorior (guitar) joining the band. After intensive rehearsals, in summer 2004, they made their successful live performance debut, together with the gothic-metal band Lacrimas Profundere, in the popular Schwimmbad-Musik-Club in Heidelberg. The enormous success and audience acceptance of the following concerts led to Lyfthrasyr’s decision to release a full-length album. Aggreash and Insorior recorded and produced “The Final Resurrection” in early 2005, which was perfected with the professional mastering of Mika Jussila at the Finnvox Studios in Helsinki. Lyfthrasyr’s hard work in their studio, their dedication and the decision to have Mika Jussila master their debut album has payed out. “The Final Resurrection” is equipped with an electrifying and aggressive, but nevertheless melodic and atmospheric sound, that reflects Lyfthrasyr’s unique style, while a new dimension is added to the band’s sound.

After the production of their debut album, Lyfthrasyr attracted the attention of various music magazines and record labels, including the German Metal Hammer, Sonic Seducer or twilight-distribution, which lead to an exclusive label- and distribution-contract with twilight. August 8th 2005 “The Final Resurrection” was released and is now available worldwide. Lots of successful concerts with bands such as Tom Angelripper, Belphegor, or Eisregen and festivals such as the Wave Gotik Treffen (WGT) 2006 later, a new album was ready to be released: Extreme hard work in 2007 culminating in a prolific journey to Sweden during September led to a great mix at the famous Studio Fredman in Gothenburg as well as a terrific mastering at the Cutting Room in Stockholm. The new effort was entitled “The Recent Foresight” and released worldwide again via twilight on November 30th 2007. Lyfthrasyr promoted their second album on a successful tour with Behemoth, Kataklysm and Aborted during September and October 2007.

In the years 2008 to 2010, many concerts and festivals with bands like W.A.S.P., Satyricon, Kreator or Arch Enemy followed. In 2011, the first official live DVD was recorded during the band’s “East Tour” with concerts in Russia and Ukraine. The DVD contains the whole concert at the Global East Rock Festival in Kiev, Ukraine, in front of more than 1000 excited people. The sound was mixed by Markus Stock at Klangschmiede Studio E in Mellrichstadt, Germany. Songwriting and recordings for the third album “The Engineered Flesh” were finished in 2013. After the great collaboration for the second album “The Recent Foresight”, the mix was done again by Fredrik Nordström in Studio Fredman while Mika Jussila did the mastering in Finnvox Studios. For the first time, the artwork was designed by Simmon Bossert who managed to adapt it perfectly to the album’s transhumanistic concept. The band signed a new contract with ALIVE distribution and “The Engineered Flesh” was released on November 29th obtaining spectacular press reactions from magazines such as Rock Hard, Metal Hammer, Legacy, or Sonic Seducer. The special edition of the new albums contains the live DVD with the live concert in Kiev 2011. In 2014, Lyfthrasyr will focus on playing many concerts to promote the new album as best as possible and to bring their music to the masses.
