Summon: How did the band get started?
A.O.S. Heirdrain: I had plenty of time to spend. In the past, I was in 2 projects (Black Impurity Esprit Dérangé) so I said “Well those projects don’t cost a lot of time, so I could easily do a solo project and work on it when the others are off the work. And that allowed to me to write of topics that I can’t put in the other projects.
Summon: What kind of music do you play?
A.O.S. Heirdrain: I make a lot of different style like Experimental, Drone, Dark ambient, Harsh Noise, Doom, Death, Raw, True, and Old School always mixed with Black Metal. I also do Harsh Noise, Dark Ambient, Industrial, Electronic music too when I’m in the mood.
Summon: How has the band response been?
A.O.S. Heirdrain: Bad, almost everybody like shitty mainstream band and studio recording who aren’t able to shut their mouth and must say any shit they can about everything. So in my case, you like or you dislike, I don’t give a fuck I do what I like and what I want. I’ve got a lot of good comments with my close contacts so I don’t think I’m the worst band in the world. My stuff is experimental so I target a little public who is able to shut is mouth and enjoy the music. My goal was not to please to everybody when I’ve began music and I know I won’t please to everybody.
Summon: Where did the band name come from?
A.O.S. Heirdrain: It’s from my own nick name which is a mix of word that I’ve put during the years to have an original nickname. I don’t want a nick name that’s many people around the world will have it.
Summon: Introduce the band members
A.O.S. Heirdrain: Only me … Heirdrain.
Summon: Who writes the music? Lyrics?
A.O.S. Heirdrain: Only me…I’m alone to do everything…
Summon: And where do the lyric ideas come from?
A.O.S. Heirdrain: From everything, I talk about what I want. I don’t push any limit to my inspiration but my main influence is about anti human stupidity, misanthropy, death, Vikings, nature, philosophy, etc.
Summon: How many albums/Cd’s have you released?
A.O.S. Heirdrain: Official release through label is about 25 albums out on label and about 20 album release by me. I’ve been in a lot of compilation too which I really like to contribute.
Summon: How do you do to have such large discography like that?
A.O.S. Heirdrain: As I said, my style is mostly experimental so I try everything who comes to my mind and if I like it then, I’ll try to release it. If I don’t like it, I’ll delete it, that’s all. I’ve been always a creative person, even when I was young; I had to have a big imagination to draw, writing stories and etc. I’m the kind of guy who doesn’t wash his time by watching TV or playing video game, I must keep myself active and productive and the best way to me is to make music. In another case, many people make a multitude of different projects from different style (have one dark ambient and other black metal) but it’s all from the same person so that why I’ve call my solo project: Heirdrain. Everything from every style will be release under my name not each different style with each different side project. And it’s the same for everybody who has a passion for something, he don’t regret to put time and effort in what he like to do. I have the power to make anything I wish/want. Also, people who don’t make music because they <don’t have inspiration> IT’S BULLSHIT HIT. When you wake up during the morning to go to the job, you don’t say such things like: ho I don’t go to the job because I don’t have inspiration. No, you shut your mouth and you go to the job, it’s the same for music, you work on it and everything will comes. Finally, I don’t need to wait after anybody since I’m alone, so I work on it when I have the time and when I want. No jam and etc. I have my own studio in my house so I record my stuff when I want and I do the mix and all the things by myself, no need to wait for a studio.
Summon: Tell me about some the songs on the latest CD?
A.O.S. Heirdrain: It’s really different from my past stuff. Better sound, better structured and much more experimental than before. I’ve got a lot of good feedback.
Summon: Almost all your copies are limited between 10 to 100, why?
A.O.S. Heirdrain: I only wish to be listen by someone who really care about my music. I’m not interested to have a release over 500 copies and being listened by stupid trends people who don’t give a fuck about the music. So, I can know that almost all my release is in hand by someone who cares about my music. I don’t wish to get the attention from any stupid people or trends kids (even if I’ve failed). I’ve spot a specific public … I don’t think I could got a big public with the experimentation I do so I don’t wish the label keep my stuff during a long time in his stock.
Summon: Who are some of your musical influences?
A.O.S. Heirdrain: Everything, the same for my lyric, I don’t put any limit to my influence and I play what I want when I feel it.
