Haut&Court - La Vie

Haut & Court is a French experimental band that formed in 2012. The band consists of four members that started their band wanting to share their music and travel the world. Their name Haut & Court translates to ‘Loud and Short’ in French language which aptly describes their 2012 album ‘La Vie’.

After listening to the album once, I was in awesome. It was indeed a short album about 10 minutes long but I felt like I had heard a lot of matter in that short period. La Vie was indeed short and fast but it was also a great level of aggressiveness played absolutely perfectly. The precision and tightness seen by such a new band is amazing. You cannot pin point the album t one specific genre of music. The bands members have managed to show great levels of versatility but at some points also make you wonder if they are beating around the bush. The album is majorly math oriented and elements of black metal in terms if the tones used. However, the band has used some very interesting arrangements in their songs, which in my opinion is the most impressive thing about ‘La Vie’. It can be very difficult for a new band to experiment with the sound but also manage to put up good arrangements.

There is definitely scope for improvement. I would like to see the band come out with a whole, full-length album. However, ‘La Vie’ did not disappointment but instead led me looking forward for more.
