Summon: How did the band get started?
Ayvaal: I always wanted to form a black metal band, and I had a huge problem finding musicians, I mean ones with brains not only ones with techniques, till Nephtys introduced Dahaaka to me, we started as friends but later on I asked Dahaaka if he is interested in forming a band with me, we set up everything all three together and we started as a cover band.
Summon: What kind of music do you play?
Dahaaka: We are interested in delivering black metal to this fucked up world.
Summon: How has the fan response been?
Dahaaka: Black metal is not welcomed in my city and my country is very religious and our music is not made for the weak, and we also have fans from outside Lebanon, and we were supported and accepted.
Ayvaal: But still we blew everybody mind, and some “big” musicians in out town were surprised.
Summon: Where did the band name come from?
Ayvaal: I came out with the band name one night…It reflects our general hatred over everything.
Summon: Introduce the band members and what they do in the band.
Ayvaal: I am the vocal, Dahaaka and Soulburner are the guitarists, Trotgoh is the bassist and Warlord is the drummer, Nephtys was the keyboardist and the female vocal but she decided to leave the band, and we had some past members like Rage and Sin Saager on rhythm guitar and Oussama Rima on Bass.
Summon: Who writes the music? Lyrics?
Dahaaka: Ayvaal writes most of lyrics, he’s always inspired, I compose the guitars and Warlord and Ayvaal write the drums.
Summon: And where do the lyric ideas come from?
Ayvaal: Generally our lyrics are based on hatred, misanthropy, chaos and rebellion, and I am very inspired by an old Lebanese author and artist, he is Gibran Khalil Gibran, but my first and last inspiration is hatred.
Summon: What is your view in Satanism and Occultism?
Dahaaka: We don’t like to categorize life and thoughts…I believe in the freedom of self…
to the farther extent of self and instincts.
Ayvaal: We are against all kinds of religion and cult, we bow to nothing, we follow our selves, our will, our instinct and lust, and I think Occultism is very insignificant and it is just another form of mind controlling and transforming mankind into a sheep-kind, and Satanism for me is self worship
Summon: How many albums/CD’s have you released?
Dahaaka: We’re releasing our first EP this summer, and we will start working on our first full length starting fall.
Summon: Tell me about some the songs on the latest CD?
Dahaaka: Each song have its own theme…each song contain an idea…we already released two war songs…the next two will be more individualist.
Summon: Do you have any side projects?
Ayvaal: I and Dahaaka, have in mind a raw/tribal black metal project…
Summon: Who are some of your musical influences?
Daahaka: Nergal, Chuck Schuldiner, Blasphemer, Lord Ahriman and Chaq Mol, Helmuth and Morgan.
Ayvaal: As a vocalist I was firstly inspired by Chuck Schuldiner, later on I was very inspired by Dead, Maniac, Attila and all Marduk’s vocals.
Summon: Which current bands?
Ayvaal: As you know we are a black/death metal band, so we are inspired by many bands such as Mayhem, Marduk, Belphegor, Death, Behemoth, Von, Hate, Watain…
Summon: What is the band like when you play live?
Dahaaka: We don’t have specific costume and we don’t wear corpse paint… we’re ugly bad ass enough and we dress in black usually.
Summon: Have you guys ever played in another country?
Ayvaal: No not yet, we want to
Summon: How big of crowd shows up at shows usually?
Ayvaal: We once played in an event titled Metal 101-The Revolution Has Begun, and the crowd was about 120/150 attenders.
Summon: How is the crowd response when you play?
Ayvaal: In Metal 101, there was about 3 black metal bands, and we were the first, and our first song was Freezing Moon-Mayhem Cover, it was in a small fucked up pub, most of the masses were outside once they heard me screaming Freezing Moon everyone entered the pub and there were some band members of a Lebanese melodic black metal band, everyone banged their fucking heads, and the only thing we heard was “WE WANT MORE”.
Summon: What do you think of the US Black Metal/Death Metal scene?
Ayvaal: Absolutely we really like and respect and support most of the US death metal scene, such as Cannibal Corpse, Morbid Angel, Death, Nile and much more, and some black metal bands like Xasthur, Leviathan…but for black metal we prefer the European scene.
Summon: What do you think of the Overseas scenes?
Dahaaka: We support everything under the name of Metal but fuck metalcore and that shit.
Summon: What are some of new favorite black metal/death metal bands?
Ayvaal: We like many bands, as we told you, Mayhem, Emperor, Behemoth, Hate, Gorgoroth, Shining, Burzum (old), Darkthrone (old), Sargeist, Horna, Setherial, Dark Funeral, Xasthur, Von, Hell Militia, Odious, Deicide, Marduk, Aeon, Nile, Malfeitor, Moonreich, Satyricon…many more
Summon: When do you guys plan on writing any new material?
Dahaaka: Ayvaal writes lyrics constantly and keeps them… when I feel inspired I grab my guitar and start composing..if I’m not..I just don’t write.. sometimes Ayvaal imagine music for his lyrics..and sometimes I write lyrics for my own music..there no rules or time, and this is making our material very fertile and unique.
Summon: What does the future hold for the band??
Dahaaka: We’re looking forward to get signed with a label and tour and spread hate and truth.
Ayvaal: We hold truth and extermination for the future, and signing with a label is what we are working for right now, we want to tour and to prove our abilities and spread our message
