Summon: How did the band get started?
Band: The band got started thru a craigslist ad.
Summon: What kind of music do you play?
Band: We like to call it extreme rock music but most listeners would refer to it as Death Metal.
Summon: How has the fan response been?
Konstantin: Mostly positive. We have not received any negative feedback. Fans are really digging the heaviness of the music.
Summon: Where did the band name come from?
Craig: We were trying to find a name that no other band had in order to avoid copyright issues again…but that’s a long, painful story. So we were in the practice room one night just throwing around names and then we came up with Hate Storm Annihilation.
Summon: Introduce the band members and what they do in the band.
Craig: We are a two man project (at the moment). Konstantin is our amazing drummer from Bulgaria and I, Craig, the vocalist and guitar player from the shitty farm town of Plainfield, IL.
Summon: Who writes the music?
Konstantin: Craig writes most of the music and we collaborate on the lyrics.
Summon: And where do the lyric ideas come from?
Craig: Everyday life.
Summon: What is your view in Satanism and Occultism?
Craig: They interest me to an extent, but I find any types of worship/political following to be a dividing point between our race/existence.
Summon: How many albums/CD’s have you released?
Band: “Storm of Flames” is our debut album. We are currently writing for our next album.
Summon: Tell me about some the songs on the latest CD?
Craig: The album was written throughout a four year process. It began my freshman year of High School, all the way up to graduation day. You can hear a lot of different sounds through-out because my inspirations altered quite a bit. But one thing seems to remain the same and that’s that it remains “heavy” (or what i would consider heavy) throughout.
Summon: Do you have any side projects?
Konstantin: As a guitar player, I’m always writing new music. Expect some interesting materials in the near future…from both of us.
Summon: Who are some of your musical influences?
Craig: There are just so many. We both have a large number of musicians that have influenced things within our playing styles. Both in metal and non-metal genres.. But if I were to really just take these massive lists of people and just condense it down to just one musician for each of us, it would be George Kollias of Nile for Konstantin and Steve Vai for myself.
Summon: Which current bands?
Band: Nile, Fleshgod, Cannibal, Origin, Hate Eternal, bands with that more extreme styles.
Summon: What is the band like when you play live?
Band: Extreme from the beginning of the set to the end. With HSA only being a two man project there is no room for mistakes.
Summon: Have you guys ever played in another country?
Band: Yes. We’ve played two tours in Europe one with Bloodsoaked and the recent tour with Six Feet Under. We can’t wait to get back.
Summon: How big of crowd shows up at shows usually?
Band: We don’t see a number when we play. It doesn’t matter to us if there is 1 or 1,000 people we give it our all every night.
Summon: How is the crowd response when you play?
Band: The crowd is very positive. They are surprised when we begin playing as to the fact that two guys can be just so brutal.
Summon: What do you think of the US Black Metal/Death Metal scene?
Craig: There’s definitely positive things you can pull out of ether scene. All though I will say we have a much larger Death Metal scene over-all.
Summon: What do you think of the Overseas scenes?
Band: Quality music.
Summon: When do you guys plan on writing any new material?
Craig: We are working on new material as we speak. It’s definitely a lot different than the last release, but we are really proud of these changes so far and we hope other people can look at it the same way we are.
Summon: What does the future hold for the band??
Band: Don’t expect the same thing twice…except for blast beats… those will probably always be there.
