Summon: How did the band get started?
Alex: Hi Altara, in late 2011 Udo stopped playing with a previous band. We know each other since long time, so he decided to call me to start something new. We started immediately to work to some material and after a while we joined up with Mr.D. and Rullo. Marco arrived some months later, when we already had some songs ready.. We immediately realized that he was the right voice for our project and we kept work hard to put together the material you listened to on “Mass Distraction”.

Summon: What kind of music do you play?
Alex: We play death metal with old school attitude. you can hear and remember riffs in our music, it’s not only a bunch of 1-1-1-1-0-0-0-1.

Summon: How has the fan response been?
Alex: Considering that we just started to scratch the surface of what we can do, we had a great response. We played in small clubs in Italy and in Switzerland and we had a great time!

Summon: Where did the band name come from?
Alex: Basically we wanted to find a name which would close to something like “to reduce to the lowest terms”, “destroy”, “to grind”… Words that describes well the music we play. Actually one late night I was listening to “Zero Signal” by Fear Factory and I thought that the “Zero” term had for sure to be used in our name.. I came up then with “Grind Zero” and everyone liked it. We know that the name reminds also Ground Zero, which is something we have considered also close with the subjects of our lyrics. September 11 is something that has suddenly changed all our lives..

Summon: Introduce the band members and what they do in the band.
Alex: We are five: Udo plays guitars as well as Mr.D., Alessandro plays drums, Marco sings and I (Alex) play bass. Udo also took care of the artwork and all the design stuff. I worked to record and produce the album too.

Summon: Who writes the music? Lyrics?
Alex: Basically it’s a team work. When someone of us comes up with a good idea, we record that and try to work together on it. We use internet to share the recordings, so we can be ready to play with it when we meet for the rehearsals.

Summon: And where do the lyric ideas come from?
Alex: Ideas for the lyrics come from what we see in every day life. We tend not to talk about demons, angels, magical stuff or things like that. We prefer to be pretty concrete on things we experience.

Summon: What is your view in Satanism and Occultism?
Alex: This is a though question. Speaking for myself, I tend to be down to earth and concentrate on what I can experience and see. I do not trust there is any god out there, therefore I do not pay too much attention on satanism and occultism in general.
Udo: Actually I’m Pastafarian. So I’m more focused on pirates. ARRRRRRRR.

Summon: How many albums/CD’s have you released?
Alex: We released a demo last year with 3 of the songs of “Mass Distraction” album, which is our first full-length release.

Summon: Do you have any side projects?
Alex: Our guitarist plays also with another well known norvegese black metal band and our singer plays in porno-grind band called Funeral Rape.

Summon: Who are some of your musical influences?
Alex: Our musical influences are vary, they goes from thrash metal to grind and black metal stuff.

Summon: Which current bands?
Alex: We will name a few: Entombed, Dismember, Carcass, Slayer, Cannibal Corpse, Dying Fetus, Immortal, Black Breath, Jig-Ai, Impaled, The Afternoon Gentlemen, Tsubo…

Summon: What is the band like when you play live?
Alex: We play like porco dio.

Summon: Have you guys ever played in another country?
Alex: With this project we have currently played in Switzerland too and we are looking for more gigs to play. Of course with the side projects Mr.D. and Marco have played a lot abroad.

Summon: How big of crowd shows up at shows usually?
Alex: It really depends on the show. It not so easy to find places to play our music in Italy right now, as it is not really popular. It also difficult to have properly exposition before of the shows for the promoters. We have played gigs with 20 people and others with 300 people.

Summon: How is the crowd response when you play?
Udo: I would say very good. We got some really harsh mosh during our gigs and we use to sell some merchandise at the shows, sometimes people asks for details on the upcoming dates, so that’s definitely good.

Summon: What do you think of the US Black Metal/Death Metal scene?
Alex: We are really influenced by that scene, even if we don’t have played there. We like all the stuff coming from US death metal, especially from Florida.

Summon: What do you think of the Overseas scenes?
Udo: We like the northern Europe scene, big stuff coming from there. We also like Czech and Polish bands. The force is strong with those guys..

Summon: What are some of new favorite black metal/death metal bands?
Alex: We really liked the album from Black Breath band, they are really good at what they do.
Udo: About Italian bands we suggest to listen to V-Anger.
Alex: And Tsubo for sure!

Summon: When do you guys plan on writing any new material?
Udo: We are currently writing some new material. I think that we will be ready for a new album for the end of 2015.

Summon: What does the future hold for the band??
Udo: We hope to play live a lot in the upcoming months!

Thank you very much for the attention and your effort!
