Summon: How did the band get started?

Francesco: Hi everyone! We formed the band in 2003, when we decided to play some Sentenced covers. We were just a bunch of crazy bastards who wanted to play music together and to have fun with our beloved music!

Summon: What kind of music do you play?

Francesco: Our music is a mix of melodic death metal with great progressive elements.
In our songs you can find different moods and different atmospheres. We have very brutal and fast riffs mixed up with mellow melodies, clean voices, and great guitar solos.

Summon: How has the fan response been?

Francesco: The response of our fan, which is very important for us, has been very good so far!
We appreciate the “vibe” of our audience during and after our shows.
It’s awesome for us to share our passion with the people we meet every time we play a concert.

Summon: Where did the band name come from?

Francesco: We took the name from the Sentenced song “Ever-Frost”. As I said before we were a Sentenced cover band so we used to play their song during our concerts. Sentenced was a very important band for us. I still love their music.

Summon: Introduce the band members and what they do in the band.

Francesco: The band is composed by five elements: my name is Francesco Leone and I’m the singer of the band, Federico Leone, who is my brother, is the drummer, Enrico Annovi is the lead guitarist, Enrico Bonetti is our bass player and Claudio Mulas is the rhythm guitarist and the guy behind the recording process.

Summon: Who writes the music? Lyrics?

Francesco: Each member of the band brings ideas and riffs for the composition of the songs, but the main composers are the two guitarists and the bassist. They bring the main riffs of a song in our rehearsal room and together with the drummer all the members work hard to define the shape and the final sound of the song. When the song is completed I add the lyrics and the vocal lines.

Summon: And where do the lyric ideas come from?

Francesco: My lyrics come from what I feel every morning when I wake up and open my eyes. I’m very concerned about the situation of our life in this reality. I’m waiting for a great change, a new way to perceive our conception of living. Our lyrical themes are about the Man and the infinite possibilities of the human mind, the idea is that we must seek a new path of evolution by improving our mental and social skills.

Summon: What is your view in Satanism and Occultism?

Francesco: I’m not interested in that Satanist stuff. I don’t believe in any God, so I think that if God is an illusion Satan must be an illusion too! I don’t understand people who worship Satan, I mean, God created Satan right? Let’s say for a moment that the stories written in the bible are real, why should I choose to stay on the side of a loser like Satan?! His attempts to defeat God finished in a complete failure after all. He cannot win against the god who created him! I only worship the human mind and its incredible possibilities. This is my spirituality and my idea of occultism.

Summon: How many albums/CD’s have you released?

Francesco: We have released two CD’s. Our first EP “The Awakening”, was released in 2009.  Our first full length album named “Departing Of Time” has been released in August 2013.

Summon: Tell me about some the songs on the latest CD.

Francesco: We have very different kind of songs in our album. The song “Be Your Own God” contains very extreme and fast parts with many progressive elements, It is a very representative song for our music I think. The song of our official lyric video, “The White Light Beyond The Wall”, is another very fast and prog song, which shows the love we have for more complicated music. Then we have songs like “Revenge” and “Cosmic Evolution” which are much more direct and catchy. I would mention two other song: “Tear Down The Sky” and “Immortal Creed”, which are very melodic.

Summon: Do you have any side projects?

Francesco: My brother Federico, the drummer, plays in a band called Subhuman. A very good example of Thrash/Death metal made in Italy! Claudio, the rhythm guitarist, plays in another band too, but he is the drummer in that band.

Summon: Who are some of your musical influences?

Francesco: Our primary sources of inspiration are bands like Opeth, Dark Tranquility, At The Gates, Dream Theater, Sentenced, Meshuggah, Opeth… we have too many to list them all.

Summon: Which current bands?

Francesco: Probably bands like Between The Buried And Me, Soilwork, Misery Signal and Gojira.

Summon: What is the band like when you play live?

Francesco: Our shows are powerful and energetic in general. We love to play live events and we always give our 100% to transmit our energy to the people. The most important thing in a concert is the energy that you emanate when you perform a song. And the technical performance too of course!

Summon: Have you guys ever played in another country?

Francesco: Unfortunately not yet, but we will play several shows in Serbia, Romania and Bulgaria in March.

Summon: How big of crowd shows up at shows usually?

Francesco: The metal scene in our country is not flourishing. Let’s say about 100 people per show. Only famous bands have the power to summon great audience in Italy. The underground scene is starving and this is a real shame for us and for every underground metal band in the world.

Summon: How is the crowd response when you play?

Francesco: From what we can see on the stage during a show, people seem to enjoy the music that we are playing and the connection that we create with them. It is important to create a bond between you and the audience in front of you.

Summon: What do you think of the US Black Metal/Death Metal scene?

Francesco: Honestly I don’t listen to Black metal genre much and so I can’t express an opinion.
About the Death metal scene I personally like bands like Between The Buried And Me, Cannibal Corpse, the Black Dahlia Murder, The Faceless and Death obviously.

Summon: What do you think of the Overseas scenes?

Francesco: I don’t know what to think about it, the only thing I can say is that I’m really worried about the increasing number of metalcore bands in Us (but in Europe too). They are all clones of other clones for me.

Summon: What are some of new favorite black metal/death metal bands?

Francesco: My favorite band at the moment is Behemoth, I know that they are not so “new”, but I love their unique mix of death and black metal, their technique and their atmospheres. A great band indeed.
I also love Obscura, Gojira and the Scandinavian melodic death metal in general.

Summon: When do you guys plan on writing any new material?

Francesco: We are writing new songs right now and we hope to release a new album next year.
We have lots of riffs and ideas, we only need to put them together and to make the new songs play with the right vibe.

Summon: What does the future hold for the band??

Francesco: Our main priority for this year is to spread our music beyond our country borders as much as we can and to write new music. The future is hard to foresee but we are a group of optimistic idiots!
