Elegos was formed in April 2014 by Admetos (all instruments) and Mantitheos (vocals and lyrics). The name comes from the ancient Greek term Elegos (ἔλεγος), which was used to describe ancient Greek mournful songs, followed by the tunes of a pipe. Elegies were poems developed in verses of two lines and in the beginning, they were religious poems, but were afterwards transformed to war poems, praising and inducing acts of heroism. In this context, the band tries to include some epic and folk elements into their music, with lyrical themes about ancient battles and heroism, trying to remind us something of the old elegies.
Up to now Elegos has released one demo entitled “To Those Lying in the Fields of Glory” (self-recorded and self-released) in December 2014.
