Summon: How did the band get started? What kind of music do you play? Where did the band name come from? Introduce the band members and what they do in the band.
MX: How we founded the band? Well, my dear friend let´s say it like this: you find each other, you make noise together, you drink, you make more noise, you talk, you make even more noise, you laugh with each other, you make extraordinary amounts of noise, you think together and then there comes the point where you are knee-deep into something, more than you prefer. Just that you know: this was how we made it for 10 years. I mean the noise making. First of all alone, then as a duo, trio, quartet and finally as a quintet. You give yourselves names, sometimes this sometimes that, and then think:” Ey, now is the time where the noises we make start to sound like something, the whole rumbling and thrashing starts to sound really good!” Something really huge, brother, like a really huge cinema. And there is a movie running called “Vivito! Creato! Moritor! And the cinema is me and my buddies. First of all there is a really nice guy. What he is writing isn’t actually that bad. Dark stuff, really horrible things and once he is unleashed he screams like hell is coming to earth. Sometimes pretty scary is totally different. He dashes over the strings and he is always smiling in an evil way. Always ready for a joke and in his head there is something like a Hieronymus Boschian hell. Then there is who only plays four strings but like an earthquake. You don´t believe me? Once he is unleashed nothing holds him back and he destroys everything, I promise! And what is left by my dear friend finishes off. Fast as a lightning but not that large. But you should not let his size fool you, could end bad. Well brother, these are my buddies. And I? Well, who cares? You? Well, then I´m sort of a crazy bringer of ideas. A restless dude always running after an idea and as soon as the idea is brought to life the gears in my head continue running. Sometimes a pretty unpleasant thing. The ideas have to get out, out, out!
Summon: What is the band like when you play live? Have you guys ever played in another country? How big of crowd shows up at shows usually? How is the crowd response when you play? What do you think of the Overseas scenes?
MX: You make music to release it, right? I mean, you want to distribute it in the world. Release it from its chains and look what is going to happen. You have to prepare the little ones, I mean the songs, for the world. Those fragile little bastards, I mean the songs, need a whole lot of care. Brightness? They can´t stand it a bit, especially if you talk or laugh in between. The little fellas just need one sort of light, not more. Blue is definitely enough for them and instead of talking we just let them do the work. How many people´s necks they grasp is not that important for them.
Summon: What is your view in Satanism and Occultism?
MX: Oh, it is them again, the old evil ones. The horned, the burned ones, really funny stuff, brother. I mean I really like having a look on it, some hellfire here, some eternal damnation there has its charm, right? But seriously, we don´t believe in that. This occult stuff seems a bit far-fetched. All these candles and murmuring just to bring a guy back to earth with a great pop? Let´s just stick to the stuff we can see and experience, which is by far cruel and brutal enough. And do you know what makes it so horrible? That all those who do the abnormal, horrible things are people just like you and me. Ordinary hominids who beat their heads with clubs, laugh weird and worship something they cannot see. Problematic, and you know why? Because we only have one head, and when it´s gone there is nothing. Finish, end, over, casket closed.
Summon: Who writes the music? Lyrics? And where do the lyric ideas come from? How many albums/CD’s have you released? Tell me about some the songs on the latest CD?
MX: I already told you of my beloved friend. This extraordinary bastard comes up with this stuff. But I´m not that innocent as it may seems. I´m always sitting around, thinking of what I could write. I do this a lot. I start thinking, nothing special, just some stuff, and bam, it comes to my mind and I start to write. A lot of crap, I have to admit, but where do plants grow the best? Right. So out of this crap the concept grew and grew, got bigger and it was truly no crap! Really evil stuff. Cruel and brutal, my tears start flowing again, like dirty water running down the drain when it rained again in a dull city. And as the water washes away all the dirt also the concept dug one grave after another. What it means? Four painters and too many years and dead bodies, this is what is meant. One dies by the same as the other and so on and so forth. It does not stop and by the same reason the painters made their paintings, we made songs about their paintings. Fast stuff, slow stuff, sad stuff, melodic stuff. A true roller-coaster ride that takes you to the bottom of a musty grave and you get angry, but only until you realize that you have helped enormously in digging that grave and again the tears start to flow. Down the red cheeks. But it doesn’t help, you have to take a deep breath and say to yourself, “Ey, man, pull yourself together!” and grab the bull by its horns.
Summon: When do you guys plan on writing any new material? What does the future hold for the band? What do you think of the US Black Metal/Death Metal scene? What are some of new favorite black metal/death metal bands?
MX: Now we are close to the end my dear brother. I’ve talked so much I really have to apologize. Right over the great ocean where you are there are some really rude fellas. They know how to make music. Nachtmystium or Woods of Ypres, but both are not longer existent. Truly sad. Those are the ones that came to my mind first. What we are going to do further? Oh my truly beloved friend and listener my gears are already grinding again. Already working and forging ideas. Stay tuned! But now I got to go, it was a pleasure talking to you brother. Farewell my friend and don´t forget to throw away the shovel…
