Summon: How did the band get started?
Winterdemon: The beginning for Darkened Winter came around 2006, After looking to find other members to create a black metal band without success, I decided to make this a solo project.
Summon: What kind of music do you play?
Winterdemon: Ambient / Black Metal.
Summon: How has the fan response been?
Winterdemon: The response has been a gradual rise since 06′, I have also recently launched an online store in order to make my music more readily available worldwide.
Summon: Where did the band name come from?
Winterdemon: The band name comes from the darkness, cold, isolation that winter brings.. but the name also holds a personal significance to how I felt at the time of the starting this project (Darkness) & it was formed in the winter of 06!
Summon: Introduce the band members and what they do in the band.
Winterdemon: Myself (Winterdemon) – Guitars, Bass, Synths, Drum Prog, Vocals, Lyrics, Recording / Mixing.
Summon: Who writes the music? Lyrics?
Winterdemon: I write & record all music / lyrics myself.
Summon: And where do the lyric ideas come from?
Winterdemon: Nature, Paganism, Norse Mythology, Medieval – Viking History.
Summon: What is your view in Satanism and Occultism?
Winterdemon: Satanism to me is an interesting subject.. from what I understand its meant to be about ones self etc. What I don’t really understand is there against the Christian view etc, yet they believe in the view of Satan.. Satan was created by what they oppose so much, the Christian view. So you would have to believe their views to an extent to follow it.. BUT this is just my perspective on it, each to their own beliefs. The occult views I find interesting also, again everyone must take there own perspective on it. but this is a topic I find more intriguing out of the two listed.
Summon: How many albums/CD’s have you released?
Winterdemon: I’ve released 4 albums so far, and currently working on a 5th.

Summon: Tell me about some of the songs on the latest CD?
Winterdemon: The latest CD is a concept album based on the Norse pagan belief of the world tree “Yggdrasil” & the nine worlds that connect to it, each track representing a world. You also have the intro “Fire & Ice” based on the idea the world was created with the coming together of fire & ice, when I wrote that track I envisioned been the only person on earth, isolation, desolation and watching the world form. if you can think of that whilst listening to it it almost puts you into a really relaxed state. The outro “Ragnarok” is based on the end, the final battle where all worlds will be destroyed, all gods will fall.

Winterdemon: Yes i have a few,

Summon: Who are some of your musical influences?
Winterdemon: I try not to let other people’s music influence my own writing, But the first black metal i started listening too was Burzum, Immortal, Satyricon, Darkthrone, Mayhem, Carpathian Forest, Gorgoroth, Dark Funeral, Marduk.
Summon: Which current bands?

Summon: What is the band like when you play live?
Winterdemon: Been a solo musician Darkened Winter isn’t a live band.
Summon: Have you guys ever played in another country?
Winterdemon: No.
Summon: How big of crowd shows up at shows usually?
Winterdemon: I currently don’t play live.
Summon: How is the crowd response when you play?
Winterdemon: I would like to play live sometime in the future, but at the moment its not on the agenda. but responses from albums have been positive!
Summon: What do you think of the US Black Metal/Death Metal scene?
Winterdemon: I think there’s some really great music coming out of the US in terms of Black / Death metal.
Summon: What do you think of the Overseas scenes?
Winterdemon: Again, the same. The music coming out from overseas regarding black metal there are some really good bands getting out there.
Summon: What are some of new favorite black metal/death metal bands?
Winterdemon: Some new stuff I’ve heard recently would be from bands like Skogen, Balnasar, Atra Vvetosus. I’m also looking forward to hearing a couple of upcoming albums from Aberration Nexus, Fallen Calamity, Astral Winter.
Summon: When do you guys plan on writing any new material?
Winterdemon: I already have a new album written and I’m in the process of lyric Writing, I’m looking at around 2014 for the release of this new album entitled “Tumulus”.
Summon: What does the future hold for the band??
Winterdemon: To keep writing and releasing music!
