Blackened Horde: How did the band get started? How did you meet and how long have you been together?

Pete: The band got started in 1991 by guitarist Travis and drummer Jimmy. Body Bag released two demos over a couple of years and then I was approached to do vocals after the old singer joined a different band. I’ve been in the band since the early part of 94′.

Blackened Horde: How would you describe your music?

Pete: It’s extreme, offensive, grinding Death. Nothing less.

Blackened Horde: What are your biggest musical influences?

Pete: I would have to say old Grind Core bands like Repulsion, Destroy, Srugle, Confrontation, Agathocles and shit like that. On the band as a whole, I think our influence comes more from bands like Napalm Death, Assuck, Blood, Gorefest and Disrupt.

Blackened Horde: Who if, if any do you consider the bands idols?

Pete: I would have to say the years everything Napalm Death has done, from their first album “Scum” all the way to their last album “Fear, Emptiness, Despair”, has had an impact on “Body Bag”. I wouldn’t say we idolize them, but they are gods.

Blackened Horde: What made you want to be in the band? And if you weren’t in the band what would you want to be doing now?

Pete: I wanted to do vocals for Body Bag because I was friends with everybody in the band and we all wanted to play extreme Death/Grind. When I first joined the band we all just clicked and we started writing our most savage material. If I weren’t in the band I would definitely do something in the music industry.

Blackened Horde: What are some of your favorite bands that are really popular today?

Pete: Some of the mainstream bands I listen to are: Hypocrisy, Napalm Death, Sinister, Dismember and too many others to name. I guess you could consider those band popular for an extreme style of music.

Blackened Horde: How many demos/albums do you have? Tell me about them.

Pete: We have four demos, but only three of them were mailed out. The first was titled “Mutilated Beyond Recognition”, and almost got the band signed with Grindcore records. The second demo was called “Suffred Existence”, and it didn’t get mailed out much. The third was more like a pre-production for our new one which is called “Pains from Nausea”, the “Pains” demo us being distributed by Relapse Records and is available for $4.

Blackened Horde: If you could play with any band who would it be and why?

Pete: There are way too many band I’d like to play with to just single out one.

Blackened Horde: Who writes the majority of the music?

Pete: We all contribute ideas to the songs.

Blackened Horde: Who has been the favorite band you’ve played with? Why?

Pete: I would have to say the biggest local show we played with Morbid Angel but, their not my favorite band. The crowd was really into the music and its the most packed I had ever seen the club. It was insane.

Blackened Horde: Where did you get the band name from?

Pete: The name “Body Bag” was created long before I was in the band, so I don’t know.

Blackened Horde: Describe what the band is like live?

Pete: Full of violent energy and taking it out on the crows with sick, offensive, blasting grind!!!

Blackened Horde: If you are gonna do any kind of video what would be in it?

Pete: Fuck videos, unless it’s live.

Blackened Horde: Are there any tour plans made, if so tell me about them?

Pete: Not yet, but we might do something along the west coast.

Blackened Horde: Where do you think the band will be in 20 years from now?

Pete: Dead in the Bowel’s of the underground!
