Summon: How did the band get started?

Wes: Blaspherian formed in 2004 Anno Bastardi. The idea for the band initialized from the Blasphemous minds of former Vocalist Desekrator and I. The idea was to form a crushing Satanic Death Metal Band, which was sorely lacking here, in Houston… Texas.

Summon: How has the band response been?

Wes: So far everything has been positive. The only problem would be from the brainwashed Christian flock that believes it’s their duty to “save” us. Hilarious.

Summon: In Your words describe the type of music you play

Wes: Bestial Unholy Death Doom.

Summon: Where did the band name come from?

Wes: The band name is a combination of the words Blasphemy and Luciferian. Also, we feel that the name Blaspherian fits perfectly with our ideals as a band, and as people. The name and band is the perfect personification of what we are and believe.

Summon: Introduce the band members

Wes: Matt Mayhem/Drums and Goats… Wes Infernal/Guitars and Inverted Crosses… Apollyon/Vokills and Pentagrams… Hail!

Summon: Who writes the music?  Lyrics?

Wes: I have written 99% of the music thus far, and now Apollyon writes most Lyrics. All older lyrics were written by former Vocalist Desekrator.

Summon: And where do the lyric ideas come from?

Wes: Basically the lyrics are a mockery of the Christian folklore that permeates our country. Folklore that is often taken as literal truth by the blind, brainwashed flock. Our lyrical themes are based on blasphemous, hate filled, unholy ideas and concepts that are meant to free the mind from blind faith and other forms of religious brainwashing.

Summon: How many albums/cd’s have you released?

Wes: Thus far we’ve release 2 rehearsal demos. 1 12” mini LP, which will also be released on CD soon. And 2 split 7”’s, one with Evil Incarnate, on Hells Headbangers records, the other split 7” was co-effort with Houston’s Black Metal Demons Adumus.

Summon: Tell me about some the songs on the latest CD?

Wes: Well… we just recorded 1 new song recently that will be included on an upcoming release. The song is called ‘Sworn to Death and Evil’ and basically it’s about Satan, and the power of freedom that Satan represents.

Summon: Who are some of your musical influences?

Wes: Immolation, Incantation, Possessed, Asphyx, Necrovore, Old Morbid Angel, old Deicide among many others.

Summon: Which current bands?

Wes: As for newer bands, we really enjoy the works of Dead Congregation, Necros Christos, Reign of Terror (from El Paso, Texas), Sadistic Intent, Baphomets Horns, Once Again among many others.

Summon: Do you guys play live?

Wes: We have been known to have a live ritual from time to time…

Summon: What is the band like when you play live?

Wes: When you see Blaspherian play live you can expect smoke, spikes, inverted crosses, a lot of headbanging, everyone with the horns in the air (in defiance of the god myth) and also you should expect a crushing wall of bestial unholy death doom.

Summon: What was the best band you played with?

Wes: Well we played the destroying Texas Fest 2, and all the bands on that were killer especially Baphomets Horns.

Summon: Have you guys ever played out of your country?

Wes: Not yet, someday we will crush. Hopefully, South America Mexico and Europe.

Summon: How big of crowd shows up at shows usually?

Wes: Here in Houston it could be anywhere from 100 to 250 people. Outside of Houston, you never know how the turnout will be, but usually it’s good.

Summon: How is the crowd response when you play?

Wes: Fuckin’ crazy, sick, evil, headbanging death metal, true, metal heads.

Summon: What do you think of the US scene?

Wes: It’s getting better. For a while it was fuckin pathetic, but there are real death metal bands popping up all the time. I feel it’s getting stronger.

Summon: What do you think of the overseas scenes?

Wes: I’ve never been overseas, but from what I hear, its killer….I can’t wait to leave this country and destroy stages in other countries. We will see.

Summon: What are your plans on writing any new material?

Wes: Well we are almost finished writing for our debut full length, which will be called “Infernal Warriors of Death” it will feature our best material to date…you will not be disappointed.

Summon: What does the future hold for the band??

Wes: To finish writing fort our debut, some live rituals, and also an upcoming split 12″ with Mutilated Messiah. Anyone interested in more info, always keep an eye on our MySpace page.     Hails and thanks for the interview and support. Infernal   666
