Summon: How did the band get started?
A. Scorpos: APOKEFALE was formed in august 2002. 2002 the band record first demo “Fast frozen future”(Self-released). Apokefale spent the next year touring extensively… Show after show…
And only in 2005 the band unleashed its highly anticipated debut album “Interior Chaos” (Serpent’s Lair prods.) In 2005-2008 have shared the stage with: Tours with (in Russia and Ukraine: Pungent Stench, Hate, Crionics, Rotting Christ, Animosity, Dead Infection, Dramatize and many other bands.
Summon: What kind of music do you play?
A.Scorpos: Hmm,it’s very difficult mixture of blackened death metal,progressive, experimental music, but always it’s pure metal))On our new album You can hear saxophone…
Summon: Where did the band name come from?
A.Scorpos: APOKEFALE from old Greece language,it’s like decapitated or from head,without head,many interpretations.
Summon: Introduce the band members
A. Scorpos: A. Scorposos – Guitars,Vocals, Thrasher – Guitars and back vocal, Serjeant – Drums, D.Nosov – 6 strings Bass.
Summon: Who writes the music? Lyrics?
A. Scorpos: All lyrics and music by A. Scorpos, all time.
Summon: And where do the lyric ideas come from?
A. Scorpos: All ideas I am take from our life and human fundamental structures, some times from films, books… it’s all from our life.
Summon: What is your view in Satanism and Occultism?
A. Scorpos: No God ! No Rules!
Summon: How many albums/CD’s have you released?
A. Scorpos: We have 3 full-length albums, 2 splits, 1 single,1 demo, 2 EP’s.
Summon: Tell me about some the songs on the latest CD?
A. Scorpos: On the latest album we have many new things, for example guest musicians:G. Bokosos from Rotting Christ (ex-Nightfall), Bruno from HYPNOS (ex-Krabathor), Vlad Suhih free jazz player (saxophone) .and we have 2 instrumental songs,it’s new way for us.
Summon: Do you have any side projects?
A. Scorpos: Only our bass player have a cover band, the play Dream Theater, Porcupane Tree covers.
Summon: Who are some of your musical influences?
A. Scorpos: I listen every time so many music in other styles, from folk to brutal death metal.
Summon: What was the best band you played with?
A. Scorpos: We played many tours and concerts, now we on tour) I like live concerts of next bands HATE, Rotting Christ, very good show with Behemoth.
Summon: Have you guys ever played in another country?
A. Scorpos: Yes,we play more then 20 concerts outside of our country.
Summon: How big of crowd shows up at shows usually?
A. Scorpos: Now we play on tour 10 shows in Siberia, it’s 200-500 peoples every show.
Summon: How is the crowd response when you play?
A. Scorpos: 30 October we play headline show, tickets sold out. All concerts goes very cool.
Summon: What do you think of the US Black/Death Metal scene?
A. Scorpos: I like many bands from US, they have individual and interesting sound.
Summon: What do you think of the Overseas scenes?
A. Scorpos: I think in other regions and countries bands have individual style, because they have influence from their nature, culture and it’s very interesting. Norwegian or German black metal very difficult. Russian and from State metal have many difficult music and sound tones.
Summon: What are some of new favorite Black/Death Metal bands?
A. Scorpos: Goatwhore, Enfold Darkness, the Fallujah, Abigail Williams
Summon: When do you guys plan on writing any new material?
A. Scorpos: When we back from tour,I hope we start writing.
