Redreigner

Blackened Horde: How did the band get started?

Petros: We’ve wanted to play for some time now. My brother and I put together some songs, decompressing our frustration. We were familiar with how Anastasis and Paschalis sounded, which led us to inviting them into the band. Our sound came about fairly naturally and off we were.

Blackened Horde: What kind of music do you play?

Petros: Metal. Death, thrash or something like that..

Blackened Horde: How has the fan response been?

Petros: The feedback has been great actually.

Blackened Horde: Where did the band name come from?

Petros: It’s one of the song titles that seemed to align with the overall theme of the band.

Blackened Horde: Introduce the band members and what they do in the band.

Petros: Constantine and I are on guitars, Anastasis Karamichalis plays fretless Bass, Pachalis Christofilos is our voice and Chris Dovas guested on our first EP and will also appear on our upcoming singles for 2022.

Blackened Horde: How many albums/CD’s  have you released?

Petros: One EP, self-titled “Redreigner” and more is on the way.

Blackened Horde: Tell me about some of the songs on the latest CD?

Petros: “Myst”, our main single, was written early on. The lyrics discuss everyday struggle that when left unchecked, can form a “fog” of hurt and suffering that is hard to find your way out of. “The Morbid Statistic”, which we just put up a play-through video of, is pretty straightforward lyrically and musically. “Redreigner” revolves around a character who takes over when“Death’s” work is not enough. The roots of human anger and some of its effects on the world are discussed in “Breed of Anger”.

Blackened Horde: Who writes the music?  Lyrics?

Petros: So far, the bulk was written by my brother and myself, but more opportunities will appear for the others to pitch in during feature recordings. It’s something we want since the guys gave a strong personal touch on their parts, of which we want more of in our future sound.

Blackened Horde: And where do the lyric ideas come from?

Petros: We are living in a world of shit as sung by the mighty Morbid Angel. The world and us humans are an endless source of inspiration. We are amazing and SUCK simultaneously on so many levels. That is the main source of inspiration.

Blackened Horde: What is your view in Satanism and Occultism?  (If this applies)

Petros: We don’t care. We play super mario and stuff. Not very evil. I do listen to bands that go full Satan mode though. With certain stuff they go hand in hand actually….i.e. Welcome to hell by Venom! Or anything from Deicide!!

Blackened Horde: Do you have any side projects?

Petros: Pascalis also sings in Zakula. That’s his other band who are also from Athens! Awesome stuff! Give them a listen. They came out with a great record this past summer.

Blackened Horde: Who are some of your musical influences?

Petros: So much stuff. Slayer, Sodom, Death, Morbid Angel, Cannibal Corpse, Carcass, Napalm Death, Bolt Thrower, older Greek folk music, classical (a bunch of stuff), Eric Johnson, Black Sabbath, Jeff Beck, Judas Priest! Metallica of course.

Blackened Horde: What is the band like when you play live?

Petros: Astonishingly vibrant!

Blackened Horde: Have you guys ever played in another country?

Petros: No, not yet! But we hope to do that soon.

Blackened Horde: How big of a crowd do you normally get?
Petros: Ha! Small, for now.

Blackened Horde: How is the crowd response when you play?

Petros: Metal crowds are always fun to play for. They are energetic.

Blackened Horde: What do you think about the underground scene?

Petros: It has been there forever. Amazing pool that oozes metal non stop. Some ups, some downs, but always there. Birthing ground of all that is good. Love it.

Blackened Horde: What are some of your new favorite Extreme metal bands?

Petros: Vitriol are a very promising band. And of course even though not brand new…Churchburn!! The best band in metal at the moment. Also the death metal titans Dead Congregation from Greece!

Blackened Horde: Since the Covid Pandemic has that hurt the band in making music at all?

Petros: Yes, of course. But we still manage to write, so that’s good! Once shows start taking place again regularly, we’ll have a good time!

Blackened Horde: What advice would you as a musician give to a fellow musician just starting out?

Petros: Play with others. Have a good time. Tune your instruments!

Blackened Horde: When do you guys plan on writing any new material?

Petros: We’ve actually already pre-produced some singles that are coming soon. They’ll be released in series starting this March. We should have a full-length by fall. Stay tuned and follow us on the web of eternal darkness and evil deeds.

Blackened Horde: What does the future hold for the band??

Petros: For now, more music and shows!
